Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome back to the 2023-2024 school year. We hope everyone had a fantastic summer break. We look forward to partnering with you and your child to create a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. To establish a quality school climate, all staff members at Wilbur Wright School use the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) Plan. The focus of this plan is to build a school culture that fosters our core values of being safe, organized, accountable, and respectful (S.O.A.R.).
Your child will be learning about PBIS during the first days and weeks of school. All of the staff members will be teaching and reinforcing the positive behaviors Wilbur Wright students are expected to demonstrate at school. PBIS Flyer Code posters are displayed throughout the building and in the classrooms. We have structured building movements and voice levels to make it easier for students to travel safely and efficiently around our school campus. Finally, we acknowledge and reward students and classes who consistently demonstrate these positive behaviors.
Please take some time to review with your child the positive behavior expectations described on the attached Wilbur Wright Flyer Code Matrix (below). Ask your child to make sure he/she understands the expectations in different locations around the school campus or on the bus. Please discuss the importance of these concepts and encourage your child to follow the Flyer Code.
With your continued support and involvement, there is no question that Wilbur Wright School will continue to be a place where students can excel in a safe and respectful environment. Research shows that when families and schools work together, student learning is more successful. We look forward to working with you as true partners in your child’s education.
Positively Yours, Gregory Adkins, Principal
